Have Gratitude For Yourself
It’s hard to see the best in yourself
Even when we’re surrounded with support
Finding the best in yourself is hard.
It’s been a huge part of my recovery to learn how to have gratitude for myself.
To thank my body for working around the clock for me.
To recognize the work i’ve put into getting better.
To be proud of myself.
Yet Here I am
Doing the thing. Thanking myself… Getting better.
It took me over 11 years to learn how to do that.
It’s not always easy, or perfect. Often times I actually finding myself recognizing patterns from my past where I wish I had been present enough to have gratitude for myself.
Simply being able to recognize it is such a win. You have a choice now. You can choose not to, and live with the consequences, or you can choose to lean in and do the work.
It’s okay to choose not to every now and then.
But you have to ask yourself “How long is it going to take for me to not only be able to recognize it, but to apply it in the moment.”
It’s like having an argument, and then in the shower afterward you think of the best comeback. Oh man it would have be so great to say “this.”
You wish you would have had the ability to respond then. For your subconscious to do the work for you. To be better.
Do it for yourself.
