Environment Is Everything
You are the average of the people you surround yourself with the most
It’s no secret that having training partners has a huge effect on your training.
I firmly believe the biggest indicator of success in any program is your support system.
Not only do you have an opportunity to ask for help, but including others adds a layer of empowerment for them, because it’s nice to have someone trust you, and vulnerability is underrated.
Start building your support system. Invest into it.
If you workout alone, ask a friend to check in with you at a regular interval. If you go to a traditional gym find someone on the same schedule as you and see if you can work together. If you attend a class ask a neighbor if they’d be interested in being accountability partners.
WHAT you do is less important than WHO you include.
The best program that nobody cares about doesn’t benefit anyone, yet the worst program that you commit to can absolutely allow you to make progress. So find somewhere in the middle, hah.
Just this past week, my training partner went home for the holidays and was frustrated at an awkward, unfamiliar gym. She managed to hit a modest number on a lift we were working on. A week later, The same lift that she struggled to hit 275 flew up with 315.
10% changes in strength don’t happen in a week, but a 10% boost in confidence can absolutely help break through a barrier.
