My Why

Hi there,

My name is Hunter.

For much of my life, I’ve been fortunate to be surrounded by people who have shaped me into the person I am today.

My goal is to make them feel seen, to feel heard, and to help them realize the impact the’ve made on me, while affording others the opportunity receive the same as I have.

I grew up in Frisco, TX. I played every sport imaginable. Even ended up becoming the captain of the football team. After deciding college football wasn’t for me I basically sped through the remainder of the sports I could’ve possibly accessed. Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, Wrestling, CrossFit, Weightlifting, Acroyoga, Mountain Biking, Snowboarding, you name it.

Ultimately, it led me to working for the Adaptive Training Foundation. This is where I learned what it felt like to truly change someone’s life.

Throughout my childhood, although I was the jock, I was also very overweight. In my junior year of high school, I topped out at nearly 350lbs. Sure I was active, but what the other kids were saying wasn’t necessarily wrong either.

What most people didn’t know is what it was a relief it was to get home. As soon as I stepped foot into my bedroom, I entered into a new world. I was also a professional video game player.

I’d spend hours each day honing my craft. I played on teams, I played in tournaments, I made friends, I made enemies, and I got paid to do all of this behind the guise of a computer screen.

I did this for years, living a separate life each and every day. Two polar opposite worlds, each holding all of the same sorrows.

Now, factor in having an identical twin. It was an identity crisis. I had created a world for myself where I hid behind my weight, behind my computer screen, or behind the people around me not knowing what my name was.

I didn’t like the way I looked, I didn’t know who I was, and I didn’t know who I wanted to be.

So I decided to make a change.

I knew how to create relationships. I knew what motivated people, I had a huge array of perspective I had learned from and had developed a skillset of learning about people and gathering trust that I continue to hone to this day.

So, I started to build a network of people, and I asked them for help.

I sought out experts in fitness, experts in weight loss, experts in lifestyle and I listened to them. I started making progress. Furthermore, the more progress I made, the more I asked for help.

Soon enough, I had lost over 100lbs. I had surrounded myself with a community of people that invested in my story. I competed at the national level in olympic weightlifting. They imbued me the confidence to share with others what I was doing. They started to make progress too. I was hooked.

So I built a career around it.

I’ve worked with NFL athletes. I’ve worked with quadruple amputees. I’ve worked with spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, large groups, small groups. Some of the most motivated and some of the least motivated among many, many more.

Fortunately, there are many among me doing the same. Day in and day out these hope carriers invest into a newfound lease on life for those in their communities and I want to be the one who is championing their stories.

G12 was created to grant access to, and identify, the people making a difference in the lives of those around them.

I am and always will be the optimist, the hoper of far flung hopes, and the dreamer of improbable dreams.

I got that tattoo’d on my ribs, so you can say i’m pretty bought in, haha.
